Checking your tire tread is a very important part of car maintenance that many people forget until it’s too late. Don’t get caught up in rain with tires that are unsafe. There are two simple ways that you can check the tread depth on your car. Purchase a tire tread gauge at a local auto parts store or simply pull out some change. That’s right one of the easiest ways you can check the tread is with a penny. Take a penny with Lincoln’s head upside down facing you and place it in the the tread of the tire. If all of Lincoln’s head is visible than the tread depth is less than 2/32” and your tires are considered unsafe and you should replace them.
